Located off the south west coast of Ireland,
the Fastnet Lighthouse has become synonymous
with the Fastnet yacht race, currently sponsored
by Rolex, this race is held every 2 years and the
next event will be in 2015.
The starting line is at Cowes and the fleet races to
the Fastnet, rounding the rock for the return leg,
then they round the Scilly Isles before finally
finishing at Plymouth.

I chose to feature this Fastnet aerial view as so many pictorial
components come together here resulting in a well balanced
image - from the rough seas to the slightly warm low angled sun,
although this was captured in mid winter following a storm and
the seas were forecast to have a 20 metre swell.
This was a planned aerial photo shoot to get the very best from
what was forecast and I was very happy with the result.
One of the more attractive elements for me are the cascading
torrents of water from the rocks following a previous wave's crash.
